Electricity of 1300 crore will be purchased

Punjab State Power Corporation has planned for purchasing the electricity of 1300 crore Rs for Next Summer. Power com. also got the chance to save the worth rupees 500 crore by getting the electricity from Banking. Because before that they have decided to purchase the electricy of 1800 crore.

The important fact is that Power com. purchased the electricity At cheap price as compare to the last year. Because last year the rate for per unit was 6.11 rupees and this year it is just 4.25 rupees per unit.

Power Com. also declared that if any businessman wants to get the electricity by open access. They will have to give details of their demand to the Power Com. If they don't do the Power Com. will not fulfill their demands.

According to the Arun Verma, Director Distribution of Power Com. This year 3200 Lac units will be purchased, while 2100 lac units will be given as Baking. In last winter 150 lac units per day has given to Neighboring states, He said.

He also said that 8 percent more electricity will be used by the consumers this year.

Batteries are stolen from Telephone Exchange

Jagraon Ludhiana:- The news is from nearest village of Ludhiana, Chowkimaan, Unknown thieves has stolen 40 batteries from telephone exchange. According to officers of telephone exchange the cost of that batteries are near about seven lakh.

According to the officer of telephone exchange last night 5-6 unknown peoples came entered in exchange at they have beaten the watchman, Major Singh from Mullanpur. After that they locked him in a room and have stolen the 40 batteries.

Some days before this type of incident also happened in Mullanpur Telephone xchange. on 8 march SDO of exchange department, Harinder Singh and ExEn G.S Batra has visited the exchange of Chowkimaan.

Bus Drivers Rajiv Kumar, Jora Singh, Baldev Raj, Sukhdev, Rajwinder Singh, Rahul Vicky, Vishal Kumar, Mangat Ram, Sodhi Kumar and Kishan LAl said that toll tax barrier, suddenly starts taking 225 rupees as for the passing.

Jatinderjeet Singh, head of Ladowal Police station, came to the spot and cleared the buses from there and also cleared the traffic. They took the Mini Bus operators to the police station and starts the action to sort out the problem between toll tax barrier and bus drivers.

But according to the officers of toll tax barrier, the bus drivers moves their buses without paying the toll tax.

Terkiana Power Plant Faces Uncertain Future

Politics has eclipsed the running of the mini hydel project. adjacent to Terkiana village near here. The mini power project faces closer as the plant has been shut for the past 20 days. The power plant has been adding 10,000 units per day to the state's total power generation Set up by Atlantic Power Private Limited(APPL), a company owned by NRI Avtar Singh Gill, the Punjab energy Development Agencies (PEDA) had temporarily shut the plant down following protests by farmers of nearly 30 villages on January 29. Alleging water logging leading to damage to the crops, farmers under the leadership of local MLA. Amarjit Singh Sahi has a lodged a protest.

He demanded that the plant should not be allowed to discharge water. The MLA has Said he would not allow the company to run the plant at the cost of farmer's crops. Having acapacity to generate 650-KW electricity, the Punjab government had allocated the plant to the company over two years ago to clean the polluted Kali Bein. Senior officers from the PEDA had made it clear that the power plant was discharging only 200 CCs, of water against its permitted limits of 350 CCs.

The problem of water logging arose as the Bein was unable to carry the discharge from the plant because of its uneven bed, a team of PEDA officials had observed. Officials of the drainage department said there was no proposal to de-silt the Bein. The Deputy Commissioner Dharam Datt Tarnach, who visited the area two days ago , said, " Asurvey of the area was conducted by the experts after the problem arose. The issue is in the notice of the government and will be solve shortly."

Avtar Singh Gill, Director and Promoter of the company has sought comensation from the government claiming he was suffring from daily loss of near about 100,000. "It was the government's job to provide a hassle -free atmosphere to the company to run the project. The government gas not solved the obstacle posed by the Bein bed which led to the problem. This is fault of the Punjab government. The government must compensate me", claimed Gill.
